Location: Islington London England
Building Type: Residential
Completion: October 2002

Based in the heart of the Arlington Conservation area in the London Borough of Islington, this project is for a house re-fit for a private client.
The planners were initially reluctant to allow a non-contextual addition to the rear of the property but we were able to persuade the conservation officer that a high quality modern development would enhance rather than detract from the existing terrace.
The owner, who is a research scientist for a major pharmaceutical company, had originally intended to add a small conservatory to the rear of the house for a budget of around £30K. As the design developed, and with the input of the client, an additional storey was added, the extension grew in scale and ambition and the entire house was re-fitted
