Futuristic Skyscraper
The Citygate Ecotower with 112 floors reaching a height of 460m by London-based m3 Architects' is featured in a major exhibition 'Skyscrapers: The New Millennium' currently running at Washington DC.
Ecotower is intended as an example of the future of high-rise, low energy, mixed-use towers and features solar cell cladding, ventilated facades and wind turbines designed to reduce net energy consumption by up to 60%. New working practices, including hot-desking, and a more mobile workforce, significantly lowers the energy load on the building. The target construction cost is estimated at £650m. Post-September 11, 2001 the future of the tower, is under detailed discussion.
