Screen Gems – Improve the view

Every decade has its hot new interiors trend. "It used to be bars, then it was snooker rooms. Now everybody wants a home cinema," says the architect Nadi Jahangiri of M3 Architects.

The technical definition of a home cinema, according to Brandon Bum of Cornflake, which specialises in installing state-of-the art audio equipment, is anything mat has a screen and five speakers. It can be a large television with surround-sound and a bass box such as Velodyne's SPL 800." The next step up is a plasma screen. They start at 37in and can go up to 61in diagonal, and cost from £3,000 for a Panasonic to £10,000 for an NEC.
