m3architects have recently completed this single storey, glazed rear extension to a Victorian family house in the heart of the Highbury Fields Conservation area in Islington, North London.
A glass canopy covers the old bin store to the side of the old extension, re-connecting the space with the kitchen. The entire rear of the house is then supported on 2 steel beams that allow the complete opening up of the garden level.
Designed to link the small patio garden back into the house by using large sliding glass doors, the project unlocks the use of the house for a young and modern family.
